Luxury self-catering apartment in converted former priory. Indoor heated pool, sauna, solarium plus two outdoor pools.
These are the former estate manager\'s quarters converted into spacious two bedroomed accommodation. Traditionally the perks of his job included free flour, and the right to keep pigeons. The small windows of his pigeon loft are still visible from the courtyard and in the living/dining room part of the floor area is the exposed vaulted stone roof of his old bread oven. The fitted kitchen has a breakfast bar, fridge, hob, extractor hood, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There is also a ground floor shower room with WC and wash-hand basin. Tiled stairs with a wrought iron banister lead from the living room to a twin bedded room with plentiful cupboard space, plus a second bathroom with bath, shower, wash-hand basin and WC. The staircase then continues up to a spacious mezzanine floor with a beautiful iron four poster double bed and a double arched window overlooking the central courtyard, solarium and indoor swimming pool. A child safety gate protects the top of the staircase. Private garden. Centrally heated for winter lets. Facilities include an outdoor pool (13m x 6m) in lovely garden surroundings with plenty of sun-beds (each flat is provided with its own personal sun-bed mattresses), an indoor heated pool (8m x 4m) with solarium and sauna, and riverside barbecue area. All this is set in two and a half acres of private grounds, surrounded by vineyards as far as the eye can see. The nearest village, Alignan du Vent, 2km away provides a boulangerie, grocer, chemist and \\\'cave co-operative\\\' selling the local wine while Pezenas (7km) has supermarkets, many bars and restaurants. There is secure shaded parking within the grounds.
The Mediterranean beaches are close by, ranging from a 7-mile long stretch of sand at Marseillan Plage to lively, cosmopolitan resorts like Cap d Agde. The Herault River and thc Canal du Midi offer numerous opportunities for walking, swimming, fishing and boat trips. The magnificent Lac du Salagou 30 minutes away inland provides bathing, wind-surfing, fishing and excellent hilly walks. Nearby there are excellent facilities for tennis, golf and horse riding.

Out and About
Pezenas, the nearest town, is about 7 kilometres away. It is a very pretty, lively town, hosting a Festival of Arts and Music every summer from June to September. There are exhibitions and concerts, and many free outdoor performances ranging from clowns to flamenco dancers to classical music. There is an interesting local museum and an easily-followed numbered tour of the town can be made. The town is immensely proud of its connection with Molière, the 17th century dramatist. In the other direction is Beziers, 20 minutes\\\' drive away, a city with a turbulent past but now one of the jewels of the Midi. Apart from the extraordinary turreted Cathedral there are numerous sites to visit, art galleries, cinemas, a theatre, and of course dozens of restaurants and bars. In August there is the week-long \\\'Feria\\\', when the whole of Beziers takes to the streets to celebrate. There is a market and a flower market every Friday, and a monthly antiques market. Longer excursions could take you to the Camargue, the Upper Languedoc National Park, the African Safari Park at Sigean, the Cevennes or the Pyrenees, or even to Spain. There are Roman/Greek excavations at Oppidum d`Enserune, and even older natural wonders at the Cirque de Navacelles and the Chaos de Moureze. The superb medieval village of St. Guilhem-le-Desert is the high point of Languedoc monasticism. The Devil`s Bridge crosses the Herault here - it is the oldest medieval bridge in France (1036-1048). The gorges of the Herault offer many places to swim and canoe, and you can visit the grottoes. Nearby towns and cities worth visiting include Montpellier, Sète, Agde, Sommières and Narbonne, and, at slightly greater distance, Avignon, Perpignan, Carcassonne and Nimes.
