Domaine de St Ferreol is ideally set for exploring the region and visiting the historic towns and villages that bring so much rustic charm to this colourful region. Or for lovers of wildlife, we have many different species of birds in our park with 56 different species being noted by a keen bird watcher in one week, or spend the day exploring the Camargue with its abundance of exotic birds and wild horses For the sun worshippers, there is a choice of golden beaches all within easy reach. There are many colourful fêtes and local events which take place in the summer months to give you a true flavour for the region. Local tourist offices provide a wide variety of information on places of interest and a summer programme of spectacles and events. Pezenas only 6km away is the medieval town , very proud of its connection with Moliere. Here you can explore the winding cobbled streets and can watch local craftsmen blowing glass, making jewellery or potting the local brightly coloured Provencal ceramics. After a morning of discovering the arts and crafts gift shops and artists galleries you will be ready to drop into one of Pezenas\'s many colourful cafes and restaurants either in the old town square or tucked away in the many ancient twisting alleyways Saturday is market day and Pezenas offers a wealth of local produce , flower stalls, and colourful clothing accompanied by the sounds of jazz or local folk groups Beaches Some 25 km away at Marseillan or Agde. There is also some 20km of wide white sandy beach between Agde & Sete Golf There are at least 6 golf courses to choose from in the region the closest being at St. Thomas an 18-hole course set in typically Mediterranean scenery in the still wild garrigue. This golf course has its own particular personality to interest all levels of player, from the beginner to the very experienced; with woods and hills with stretches of water and other more classical fairways. At Cap d\'Agde, you can find a particularly inventive 18-hole course designed by Ronald Fream one of the world\'s greatest landscape designers, offering a colourful landscape accompanied by the exquisite fragrance of rosemary and thyme Horse riding There are local stables dotted around the region offering leisurely rides around the countryside for both beginners and riding arenas with jumps for the more experienced. The closest stables are near Pezenas, only some 5km from the estate. Tennis Nearby facilities can be found 5km away. Water sports Offered at many of the local beaches and for true enthusiasts at Lac de Salagou. Fishing on site at the river Boyne at Domaine de St Ferreol as well as at the nearby Canet plage on the river Herault, the riverbanks are frequented by the local fishermen of the region. Fishing permits need to be obtained. Vineyards Domaine de St. Ferreol enjoys close proximity to some of the region\'s well-known wine growing estates and you can taste the local wines. These range from some well known labels such as Domaine de Peyrat, Domaine de la Rose, to, say, Adissan Co-operative which produces some delightful whites, rosés and reds both bottled and bulk by the litre. Our closest vineyards are Jean de Rocas and Chateau Bertrand. Both are approx. 1 km from our estate.
