La Redorte – the village La Redorte is a thriving village with shops for all the essentials including 2 butchers, a specialist boulangerie/patisserie, a small hypermarket with petrol station and a variety of mobile traders regularly visit the market square, selling fruit & veg, fish and meat. If you don’t fancy cooking, there are 2 café/restaurants, 2 bars and a visiting takeaway pizza service. As well as a bouledrome and a tennis court. A daily bus service goes to and from Carcassonne, plus taxi service means hiring cars is not essential There are so many things to do and places to visit. For sightseers there are medieval villages, abbeys, cathedrals, castles, museums and exhibitions (Dali museum 1 hr away). For nature lovers there are national parks, hot springs, gorges and caves. There are stunning sandy beaches, beautiful river swimming holes and many swimming pools both outdoor and indoor. Close by is the Lac de Jouarres with swimming, wind surfing, boating and fishing plus a picnic area and BBQs. There’s even an African safari park. Bikes are available for hire and the perfect way to explore the area. There are cycling or walking trails along the canal, through vineyards and up into the mountains. Or you can just hire a boat for a tranquil foray down the Canal. There are local markets on every day of the week and free wine tasting is available everywhere. Restaurants abound with regional delicacies and you can get a 3-course lunch with wine from £6.

La Redorte is conveniently situated between several airports and in easy reach of the autoroute.

By air.
Ryan air (discount airline) flies into Carcassonne (the nearest airport) Perpignan, and Montpellier. KLM, British airways and Flybe fly into Toulouse.

By train The TGV goes to Beziers.
